With unreliable and slow mail service to my APO mailbox, I dropped my Burda subscription and started buying the German issues from the news stand. When I first moved to Europe I still scoured the news stands for pattern magazines. Truth be told, I mostly browsed the magazines like I would a fashion mag and sewed up a few things from a French issue called "Diana Couture." The clothes in those magazines seemed more interesting and it was fun to see all the different languages and even more fun to find them during our travels.

I wanted Patrones, La Mia Boutique, Knipmode, Ottobre, etc., etc. I had a subscription to the English version of Burda through GLP News but that was not enough. My husband was patient and accommodating when I'd pass one and say "just a sec, let me pop in here." Fortunately magazines don't cost a lot and don't take up too much room in a suitcase. If you’re into early Burda Previews be sure to visit I first traveled to Europe I scoured the news stands for pattern magazines. Its all in Russian, but the images clearly translate in any language! I’m particularly excited by these three items that will be in Burda Style 11/2013. On another note this site ( ) is brilliant for showcasing the very very latest Burda Mag previews. Perhaps they all fell off the side of a container ship? Fingers crossed it turns up soon. But here I am two weeks into the month and NO BURDA! Its. I’m ok with being 3 months behind, what I’m not ok with is that the latest issue for us (Burda Style July) has gone AWOL! It usually drops first week of the month, and my local newsagent sees me hopping around hoping its arrived. So I live in Australia, and apparently in terms of magazine deliveries that means I’m actually 3 months behind (lets put aside that I can order something from ASOS in England and have it in my hot little hands within 3 days), but I digress.
