To talk about the genuine failings of Alien: Covenant is troublesome without uncovering spoilers. What you get is an odd amalgamation of both, with neither truly working. With Alien: Covenant, it feels like Scott plainly needed to do an immediate spin-off of Prometheus, yet Fox would rather he make another Alien film, thus why all the showcasing is Xenomorph-driven. One of the greatest issues with Ridley Scott's Prometheus was that it generally felt like the chief was attempting to make tracks in an opposite direction from the Alien establishment, yet twentieth Century Fox was constantly behind him making a request to put more references to the arrangement.
